Pop-Up Postcard: June 28, 2025 - Moses Lake Farmers Market Kid Seedling Day

Summer Saturdays always start early for me — I like to get to the park by 6:00 to give myself plenty of time to settle in and set up before the day begins. This week I was a little behind my usual rhythm, but thankfully the morning was calm, breezy, and not too hot.
This was the first-ever Kid Seedling Day at the market, and it brought such a fun energy to the park. Kids were proudly carrying their little potted seedlings, decorating them with colorful stickers, and tugging parents from booth to booth. It was one of those markets that felt extra joyful — like a celebration of summertime in motion.
The crowd had a slightly different feel than usual, with more families and new faces stopping by. I had some sweet conversations and noticed lots of interest in scrunchies, keychains, and smaller bags and wallets. I always find it helpful to see what people are drawn to — this time around, it was definitely the little things.
At the end of the day I treated myself to a bag of fresh cherries from Grace Valley Farms, my friendly neighbors at the market. Their produce is always top-notch, and it’s quickly becoming a summer tradition.
And as a special bonus, my daughter and granddaughters stopped by for a visit after potting their own little seedlings. Moments like that are the real heart of market days — a mix of community, creativity, and connection all in one place.
XO,
Katie
